Department of Fertilizers to Participate in Month-Long ‘Special Campaign 6’ Starting October 2

NEW DELHI — The Department of Fertilizers (DoF) under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, along with its attached offices and public sector undertakings (PSUs), is gearing up to observe Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026. Formulated under the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the month-long initiative aims to institutionalize Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimize operational pendency in government offices.

Key Focus Areas & Initiatives

  • Effective E-Waste Management: A primary emphasis of Special Campaign 6 will be the saturation of cleanliness drives, with special focus on the systematic collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of e-waste across offices.

  • Administrative Clearance & Space Optimization: The department and its PSUs will prioritize reviewing and weeding out old physical and electronic files in line with the Record Retention Schedule. Unused scrap materials and redundant items will be auctioned to free up valuable workspace and improve workplace efficiency.

  • Pendency Reduction: Accelerated efforts will be directed towards resolving pending public grievances, CPGRAMS appeals, VIP/MP references, and parliamentary assurances.

  • Digital Progress Tracking: Continuous monitoring will take place through DARPG’s dedicated portal (www.scdpm.gov.in), where the Department of Fertilizers will upload regular progress updates.

Lead-Up Events: Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS)

The announcement builds on continuous cleanliness activities already underway within the department:

  1. Swachhata Pakhwada (Sept 1–15, 2026): Initiated with a Swachhata Pledge, followed by Shramdaan (cleanliness drive) activities at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, and a bilingual essay-writing contest focusing on plastic-waste elimination.

  2. Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign (Sept 17–Oct 2, 2026): Currently ongoing across attached offices, PSUs, joint ventures, and fertilizer companies under guidelines from the Ministry of Jal Shakti and MoHUA. A senior-level review meeting held on September 22 briefed fertilizer units on key creative themes such as Kabaad Se Kala, Khel & Khel Bhawana, and Gyan Yatra.

Preparatory identification of campaign sites and categorization of e-waste items are currently being finalized ahead of the official launch on Gandhi Jayanti.
