MANILA — The executive branch has designated special non-working holidays across five different municipalities nationwide to allow residents to commemorate their respective municipal founding anniversaries. The formal proclamations were signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto under presidential authority on October 28.
The schedule of declared holidays encompasses:
- Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur: November 11 has been designated under Proclamation No. 1493.
- Malita, Davao Occidental: November 13 has been set aside pursuant to Proclamation No. 1494.
- San Antonio, Quezon: November 19 is officially declared under Proclamation No. 1495.
- Itogon, Benguet: November 20 marks its 126th anniversary under Proclamation No. 1496. Local municipal leadership requested the shift from the actual calendar date of November 22 to Friday, November 20, 2026, to maximize public participation.
- Burgos, La Union: November 27 marks its 101st founding milestone under Proclamation No. 1497.
The rationale behind these executive orders centers on community engagement, as articulated within the official texts:
“It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamations read.
