Defence Minister Reviews LAC Infrastructure and High-Tech Military Deployment at Sukna’s Trishakti Corps

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted a comprehensive operational review of the Trishakti Corps at Sukna, West Bengal, assessing border infrastructure progress along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) alongside the integration of modern military technologies and advanced equipment.

Senior military leadership attended the briefing, including Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen VMB Krishnan, and 33 Corps Commander Lt Gen Man Raj Singh Mann. During the visit, the Defence Minister commended the formation’s operational readiness and highlighted its involvement in regional infrastructure development and civic welfare programs aimed at supporting border communities.

Later addressing troops during a traditional Barakhana on the eve of Diwali, the Defence Minister identified the Sukna military station as a vital logistical base integral to Eastern India’s defense grid, responsible for sustaining personnel, arms, and essential supplies at high-altitude forward posts. He affirmed the government’s continued focus on reinforcing supply lines and expanding budgetary support for strategic roads, tunnels, and border connectivity initiatives.

Focusing on the evolving nature of global conflicts, the Defence Minister noted that contemporary military challenges have expanded beyond conventional boundary disputes.

“Modern warfare extends beyond conventional battles to encompass hybrid warfare, proxy wars, cyber-attacks, drone incursions & information warfare; Defence Forces must remain vigilant”

He further observed:

“Our start-ups and industries are now manufacturing drones, anti-drone systems, and other state-of-the-art equipment for the soldiers. It is a matter of pride that our Defence Forces are actively embracing emerging technologies, learning drone operations, enhancing their understanding of cyber security, and undergoing training in new methodologies. This transformation will prepare us for the future,”

Addressing psychological well-being, the Defence Minister urged personnel to prioritize mental health by maintaining open communication with peers to mitigate the stresses of deployment and prolonged separation from families. Re-framing traditional geographical perspectives, he referred to the North-Eastern region as the country’s “first edge” rather than its remote boundary, emphasizing its strategic and cultural importance to the nation.
