Youth Ministry Wraps Nationwide Democratic Awareness Drive Reaching Over 100,000 Young Citizens

NEW DELHI — A nationwide campaign aimed at boosting civic engagement and voter literacy among young citizens has concluded after hosting 536 interactive dialogue sessions across 31 states and union territories.

Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports via the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, the “Viksit Bharat Yuva Samvad: Know Your Vote” initiative ran from October 26 through November 5, 2026. The program reached a total of 100,493 young people—with a specific focus on first-time voters—across 500 higher education institutions, featuring participation from 536 designated youth icons. On its final day alone, 123 events were held across 28 states and union territories, gathering 22,588 participants alongside 123 youth icons.

The drive brought together constitutional authorities, lawmakers, and athletes to discuss electoral mechanics, critical evaluation of information sources, and civic responsibilities. Among the attendees were Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria in Chandigarh, Nagaland Governor Shri Nand Kishore Yadav in Dimapur, and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal alongside Delhi Lieutenant Governor Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu in the national capital. Various Members of Parliament, including Shri Chaudhary Dharambir Singh, Shri Pradan Baruah, Shri Ranjit Dutta, Smt. Rupkumari Choudhary, and Shri Mahesh Kashyap, led sessions in their respective regions.

Athletes also joined the outreach efforts to draw connections between civic duty and sports discipline. International rugby player Ms. Amandeep Kaur and rower Shri Kulwinder Singh met with students in Punjab, while Sports Icon Ms. Bhumika Shukla led a session in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Other events across Uttar Pradesh highlighted athletic initiatives such as Khelo India alongside voter education.

Individual sessions integrated practical civic exercises, including democratic pledge ceremonies, interactive Q&A forums, educational quizzes, and user registrations on the digital MY Bharat portal.
