MANILA, Philippines — A major national conference examining the history, science, and governance of the Philippine flag will take place alongside a regional heraldry exhibition in Manila on November 10, 2026.
Organized by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), the double event will take place at the agency’s central office in Ermita, Manila. The official opening of the Southeast Asian exhibit is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., followed by the national conference at 10:00 a.m. in the NHCP Multi-Purpose Hall.
The public event coincides with the 2026 ASEAN Summit and aligns with the NHCP’s annual focus under its decade-long historical framework, titled “Year of Philippine Diplomatic History and Diaspora.”
The free gathering aims to analyze the national flag through multiple lenses—including historical evolution, scientific standards, and official protocol—while placing the emblem alongside the national heraldic symbols of all eleven ASEAN member states.
The initiative falls under the statutory mandate of the NHCP, which serves as the primary government body responsible for researching, preserving, and promoting Philippine history, overseeing national shrines and museums, managing historical markers, and administering official heraldry.
