BRICS Summit 2026: India Set to Host Global Leaders in New Delhi

New Delhi, September 11, 2026: India is set to host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, 2026, bringing together leaders of the expanded BRICS grouping for discussions on global economic cooperation, development and major international challenges.

The summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi during India’s BRICS Chairship for 2026. The official BRICS India 2026 platform lists the summit dates as September 12–13.

BRICS has grown considerably from its original grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The expanded grouping now includes 11 member countries, bringing together major emerging economies from different regions of the world.

India’s BRICS Chairship

India assumed the BRICS Chairship for 2026 and has been conducting a series of meetings and activities throughout the year. These have included discussions covering areas such as health, energy, urban development, culture, finance and security.

The Ministry of External Affairs launched the BRICS India 2026 logo, theme and website in January as part of the country’s chairship programme.

Several BRICS-related meetings have already taken place in India. The country hosted the BRICS Health Working Group meeting in New Delhi in April, while the BRICS Urbanisation Forum was also held in the capital in June.

Major Issues on the Agenda

The summit comes at a time of significant geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Leaders are expected to discuss strengthening cooperation among member countries, improving economic and financial collaboration, and addressing challenges affecting global trade and supply chains.

The meeting is also taking place against the backdrop of conflicts and tensions in different parts of the world, adding importance to discussions on international cooperation and global governance.

The expanded BRICS grouping gives the summit a wider international significance, with member countries representing a substantial share of the world’s population and global economic activity.

Focus on Cooperation and Development

Under India’s chairship, BRICS discussions have covered a broad range of areas, including healthcare, energy security, urban development, culture and financial cooperation.

The summit is expected to provide an opportunity for member countries to strengthen cooperation and explore practical initiatives in areas of common interest.

With India hosting the leaders’ meeting in New Delhi, the 2026 BRICS Summit is expected to be closely watched for its outcomes on economic cooperation, global governance and relations among the major emerging economies.
